Pent potting sheds
A pent potting shed is higher on one side, with the roof sloping down from this point. Here at Solid Sheds, we supply, deliver and assemble pent potting sheds in a variety of sizes, so that any size of garden can be accommodated. The slanted roof of the pent potting shed means that no water will collect on the roof. This will massively reduce the risk of flooding or damage caused by dampness.
The slanted, glazed windows of our pent potting sheds combine the wooden shed with the effects of a greenhouse, allowing natural light to enter and your plants to thrive.
Apex potting sheds
An apex potting shed has a roof that comes to a point in the middle. The roof can either slope down to the sides, in the case of a standard apex potting shed, or to the front and back, which is known as a reverse apex roof.
As with our pent potting sheds, water cannot sit on the roof due to its sloped nature, and therefore flooding and dampness won’t be a problem.
Our apex potting sheds also feature slanted, glazed windows to mimic the effect of a greenhouse.
Wooden potting sheds
As well as performing its required job to the best possible standard, our wooden potting shed will also look the part. This will ensure that your garden space is a fantastic place to be, even when you’re not tending to your plants. Wooden potting sheds are also more resilient than a traditional greenhouse and won’t get smashed by the neighbouring kid’s ball!
Pressure-treated potting sheds
To ensure your wooden potting shed lasts for years to come, you’ll be pleased to know that we only use the highest quality, 100% pressure treated timber in our manufacturing process. Pressure-treating all our timber forces chemical preservatives into the wood grain, making it extremely resistant to rot and dampness.

What is a potting shed used for?
A potting shed is a fantastic alternative to a traditional greenhouse, and it’s a great place to do those gardening activities that are too messy to do indoors. They’re often used for potting plants, starting seedlings, and growing tomatoes and strawberries, but can be used for all gardening activities - whatever takes your fancy.
Like a greenhouse, potting sheds offer protection from the elements, both for your plants and for you whilst you’re busy gardening. However, greenhouses are easily broken, whereas our wooden potting sheds will still be standing years from now!
The difference between a potting shed and other sheds on the market is that potting sheds feature a potting table, an area to store your pots, and slanted, glazed windows which let in sunlight and allow your plants to flourish.

Should I buy a greenhouse or a potting shed?
The difference between a greenhouse and a potting shed is that a greenhouse is usually made entirely from glass or plastic, with a steel frame holding it together. On the other hand, a potting shed is made from wood, with slanted, glazed windows allowing the light to penetrate.
The big advantage of potting sheds over greenhouses is that they’re much more durable. Where a wayward football can easily smash a greenhouse, wooden potting sheds can withstand all kinds of unexpected events.
You also get a great deal more privacy with a potting shed than with a greenhouse. When your neighbour is pegging out their washing, you’ll be able to make your plant clippings in peace, without feeling like the eyes of the world are upon you.
In our opinion, wooden potting sheds are also far more attractive. Greenhouses tend to get grubby quite quickly and require regular cleaning to prevent them from looking unsightly. Our potting sheds are made from the finest redwood, and if you choose to do so, can even be painted in any colour you like.
In summary, a potting shed will provide the perfect sanctuary for both you and your plants.
